Two weeks ago on a Sunday evening we had a freak storm. Not really any rain, but lots of wind. My mother-in-law was visiting, and we were eating dinner. Somehow we got on the subject of the fence and we said it was wonderful, sometimes it just doesn't like the wind. Wind doesn't flow through the fence well at all. (The fence picture where you can kind of see through the gate and see the swingset has slots in the fence. The long part of the fence in the picture is called privacy link fence. You can't see through the links. Thus the wind doesn't go so well through it) An hour later, the wind picks up, and the air cools off, so I opened some windows. We were enjoying the wind. An hour or so later Jess was setting up the garage for the puppies for the night, and our dog starts barking. So he runs out to the yard to see what she's barking at and she takes him to the fence. The 90 something foot fence is over 2/3 on the sidewalk. We must have had a freak micro burst. Jess locked up the dogs and ran down the street to get help from one of the families in our ward. He luckily had a come a long. (My husband will be proud of me for remembering the name) They bent the fence back up, and the fence is now fixed for now. All of the poles stayed in the ground. The wind was so strong it just bent them. The irony here is that I was teaching my primary class that same day about Helaman 5:12. We talked about the shafts and whirlwinds and how we need to build strong foundations. The foundation on the fence stayed. We just need more poles. We are grateful we had help. It was 10:45 at night. We are glad our dog Daisy didn't run off. She just sat and barked until Jess checked on her. We are glad the posts held on, or the fence would've blown into the street. And so our life's little challenges are still manageable.
